Introduction

The effectiveness of any military force is dependent on its managers' understanding of the evolving requirement to sustain, retain, attract and recruit the people it needs. Your management skills are key to transforming your people, and this course can enable you to utilise the military system to unlock their full potential and achieve your own.

The University recognises that this requirement calls for a high-level of managerial and professional competence. The BSc (Hons) Engineering Management (Aerospace Engineering and Airworthiness Management) presents Royal Air Force Engineering Officers who have completed ASET with an opportunity to enhance their managerial and academic skills within this particular area of operational expertise. The programme is open to all suitably qualified candidates and offers an opportunity to transfer their academic qualifications and work experience to achieve a degree in Aerospace Engineering and Airworthiness Management.

Flexibility

Flexibility is a key feature of this programme and 情色六月天 regulations permit military students to formally interrupt their studies, at no extra cost for a period of up to 24 months in light of Out of Area deployments or other such commitments.  In effect students can pause on their studies until they are in a position to continue.

How You Study

Teaching is delivered utilising a range of methods such as online sessions, directed reading and video content with an aim to facilitate a community of practice learners. Students will also be expected to complete some independent study as part of this programme.

How You Are Assessed

The course and associated assessments are at final year degree level and, applicants should be prepared to offer the commitment and dedication to produce work of an appropriate standard.

The assessment methods vary across modules and include coursework, written assignments, portfolio development, presentations and an Independent Research Project.

Assessment Feedback

You can receive written comments and a score for summative work, your feedback will be designed to help you develop and improve for the next assessment. The 情色六月天's policy on assessment feedback aims to ensure that academics will return in-course assessments to you promptly – no later than 15 working days after the submission date.

Duration

Typically, students take between 14 - 24 months to complete the programme but this will vary according to each individual's personal circumstances and work commitments.

Modules

Critical Enquiry Skills

This module aims to equip students the appropriate knowledge and skills to enable them to engage critically with their studies, and the Independent Research Project in particular.

Managing Engineering Systems Risk

This module aims to introduce students to the field of managing engineering systems risk. This consideration takes a systems approach utilising SSM tools alongside Active Network Theory and challenges students to identify and consider their operations and services as (interacting) systems. This deeper dive will seek to look at the tools available to organise and manage such systems. It uses some of the approaches of engineering systems coupled with Performance Management, Health and Safety and Resource Management and requires students to identify how these relate to their own engineering experiences or expectations.

Independent Research Project

The Independent Research Project provides students with the opportunity to apply, integrate, and deepen the knowledge, insights, and skills they have learned throughout the programme of study. The focus of this project should be a real-world issue or a research topic. The format of the final assessment can be negotiated with the student's academic supervisor or programme lead.

Students may benefit from the following features of the course:

  • Flexible – The programme is delivered through our Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), allowing you to access learning materials and study remotely, wherever you are. You will just need access to a reliable internet connection.

Entry Requirements

The 情色六月天 has recognised the high standard of phase one and two training received by Royal Air Force Aerosystems Engineer Officers through formal accreditation of the first two levels of study of an undergraduate degree programme, in addition through an agreement with the Defence School of Aeronautical Engineering (DSAE) the accreditation of additional final-level modules. This allows ASET students who are undertaking their military training the option to enrol on the BSc (Hons) Engineering Management (Aerospace and Airworthiness Management). Two modules will be completed within your training at RAF Cosford, and you can register with the University to gain a 45-credit transcript for these modules on successful completion.

Within five years of completion students can return to the 情色六月天 to successfully complete a further three final-level modules (75 credits) to be awarded the BSc (Hons) Engineering Management (Aerospace and Airworthiness Management).
